Avodart contains dutasteride 0.5mg, a prescription medicine used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate. It works by reducing the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which helps shrink the prostate, improve urinary symptoms, and reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and prostate surgery.
